Poetry Submission Guidelines
Submission closing date is 19th January 2024
We are excited to be accepting poetry that responds to the theme UNBREAKABLE. Poetry can be of any form or genre, including free verse. Each individual poem must be no more than 40 lines.
You can interpret the theme however you wish. We are accepting unpublished and published work, as well as work that has been submitted for a UoG assignment. Ensure that it is your original work and that you own the publication rights. If the piece has been published elsewhere previously, please let us know where. You are welcome to include up to a 50-word bio in the submission email, but all pieces will be read and decided upon anonymously.
Send up to four poems per author only.
When submitting, please include “Poetry Submission” in the email subject line and send it to cwanthology@glos.ac.uk
- All poems should be in a single document, with one poem per page.
- Submit all work in 12pt, double spaced, Arial or Times New Roman font. (Unless it is an experimental piece, in which the font and/or spacing constitutes part of the work.)
- Submit work in a .doc or .docx format.
- Ensure your work includes the title in the header and the page number in the footer.
- Submissions will be selected anonymously: do not include your name anywhere in the document; do include your name in the email.
- Transgressive themes and language are welcome under the provision that they are handled with sensitivity and are not used gratuitously.
- Each piece should be self-contained. It can be an extract from a longer work but must be able to stand alone.
- Successful submissions will be given to editors, who will coordinate with the authors to suggest any appropriate edits.
- Unfortunately, we are unable to offer feedback for unsuccessful submissions.
- If you have any questions, please email cwanthology@glos.ac.uk
